Sunny Day

I pace around. I’m a nervous wreck.
I’ve got no sense of humor. I’ve got no self-respect.
Out the window all I see is gray.
All I hear a whispers that are nothing but hearsay.
She’s gone. She says we’re “on hiatus”.
If you stick around I’ll tell you about it later.
Right now I don’t know myself.
With someone like her you never can tell.

So I’m waiting for a sunny day.
I wish the sun would come out and
Just melt those dirty old clouds away.
Well I’m waiting for a sunny day.
I wish she’d come on back to me and
Make everything better.
Make me feel okay.
At least for one day.

A page of paper blows across the vacant lot.
Yesterday’s news today isn’t so hot.
The air inside smells like it’s two months old.
It’s been at least that long since she left me here stone cold.
Her red shoes are sitting by the bedside.
A blouse hangs in the closet. She says she’ll pick ‘em up sometime.
She doesn’t care. She’s got too much, anyway.
If she needs some more she’ll get it from her fiancé.

So I’m waiting for a sunny day.
I wish the sun would come out and
Just melt those dirty old clouds away.
Well I’m waiting for a sunny day.
I wish she’d come on back to me and
Make everything better.
Make me feel okay.
At least for today.

Sun… sun… sun… Here it comes.
Shine on me.
Sun… sun… sun… Here it comes.
Set me free.

I lay around, waste another week.
The black and white TV spouts half-true double-speak.
I look outside, I’m still seeing gray.
I look at my calendar, it says, “Hey, it’s Saturday!”
Where’s it gone? I just sit here and rust.
I don’t know who my friends are. I don’t know who to trust.
This year’s been eating me alive.
I need to make some changes or I’m never gonna survive.

So I’m waiting for a sunny day.
I wish the sun would come out and
Just melt those dirty old clouds away.
Well I’m waiting for a sunny day.
I wish she’d come on back to me and
Make everything better.
Make me feel oh...
I’m waiting for a sunny day.
I wish the sun would come out and
Just melt those dirty old clouds away.
Well I’m waiting for a sunny day.
I wish she’d come on back to me and
Make everything better.
Make me feel okay.
